A leading proponent of Minimalism and Conceptual art, Sol LeWitt would prepare guidelines and diagrams for his murals, then outsource the labor to others. The instructions for Wall Drawing #1134, Whirls and Twirls (Princeton) indicated not only the width of the color bands but also specified that no colored section may touch another section of the same color.
