Édouard Manet

Manet liked to paint people. Sometimes his paintings are of real people and other times they are not. This probably is not a portrait because it is hard to see the woman’s face. If you asked an artist to paint your portrait, you most likely would want him or her to show your face.   

Can you see her eyes? Which way is she looking?
