Cloisonne box and cover

Description

Andō Jūbei hailed from the city of Nagoya and was one of the leading cloisonne artists in the Meiji period. This wire seal appears on the base of this flat, circular box that is decorated with colored enamels forming a pattern of open-face flowers and tendrils set against a blue background. The interior is enameled in a rich green hue and the cover features a flat, gold finial.
