Six-Pack of Kekou-Kele (Coca Cola)

Description

Hybridized Coke bottles appear here in ceramic form. The six-pack seizes the style of Ming-dynasty blue-and-white porcelain (1368–1644), made internationally famous by the imperially sponsored kilns at Jingdezhen, where Zhang’s bottles were also made. In merging this iconic artistic tradition with the contemporary, internationally recognized form of a Coca-Cola bottle, Zhang comments on the influence and global reach of modern consumerism and popular culture.
