Conversation | Design and Curation: Making a New Museum for Princeton

Thursday, January 25, 2024 @ 5:30 pm

Location

Friend Center, Room 101

Join Museum director James Steward and Juliana Ochs Dweck, chief curator, for a lively and wide-ranging glimpse into some of the discussions that are shaping the new Museum, due to open in 2025.

With construction on a new home for the Princeton University Art Museum moving toward completion, it’s the perfect moment to consider how the design of the new facility arises from the Museum’s mission, seeks to advance goals such as transparency and accessibility, and enables new strategies for engaging the collections and exhibitions and the varied audiences the Museum serves. How will the public encounter the collections on opening day? What values inform these choices and how might they change over time? How does the design of the building inform the design of the galleries and public spaces and vice versa?

Reception to follow.

LATE THURSDAYS! This event is part of the Museum’s Late Thursdays programming, made possible in part by Heather and Paul G. Haaga Jr., Class of 1970. Additional support for this program has been provided by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
