Graduate students from all departments are invited to visit our two downtown galleries to enjoy refreshments while mingling with Museum curators and contemporary artists. Small bites, wine, and a special cocktail will be served.
At Art on Hulfish, the artists Judith Nangala Crispin and Justine Varga—both featured in Under a Southern Star: Identity and Environment in Australian Photography—will speak about their works on view. Also a renowned literary artist, Crispin will give a reading of her poetry. They will be joined by Laura Giles, Heather and Paul G. Haaga Jr., Class of 1970, Curator of Prints and Drawings, and Senior Associate Director for Collections and Exhibitions Chris Newth. At Art@Bainbridge, meet Rachel Federman, guest curator of Helène Aylon: Undercurrent, and Caroline Harris, the Museum’s Diane W. and James E. Burke Senior Associate Director for Education.
Under a Southern Star: Identity and Environment in Australian Photography foregrounds the work of contemporary artists exploring Australia’s complex cultural landscape and its increasingly fragile natural environment.
Helène Aylon: Undercurrent brings together twenty works from Aylon’s fifty-year career to emphasize the strong undercurrent of receptivity and resilience that unifies her oeuvre.
LATE THURSDAYS! This event is part of the Museum’s Late Thursdays programming, made possible in part by Heather and Paul G. Haaga Jr., Class of 1970.
