Panel Discussion: Perspectives on Object Lessons

Join Curator Karl Kusserow and catalogue essayists Kirsten Pai Buick (University of New Mexico) and Ellery Foutch (Middlebury College) for a discussion of their newly published catalogue, Object Lessons in American Art.

Expanding on the traveling exhibition curated by Karl Kusserow, John Wilmerding Curator of American Art, this publication is inspired by the concept of the object lesson: the study of a material thing to communicate a larger idea. Object Lessons reimagines the Princeton University Art Museum’s collection of historical American art in light of contemporary perspectives on race, gender, and the environment.
