Join us for a conversation between multimedia artist Wendy Red Star (born 1981, Billings, Montana), a Portland, Oregon–based artist raised on the Apsáalooke reservation, and Katherine A. Bussard, Peter C. Bunnell Curator of Photography. Red Star is the Art Museum’s 2023 Sarah Lee Elson, Class of 1984, International Artist-in-Residence and her practice explores Indigenous roots of feminism and cultural heritage as well as archival and historical narratives, often highlighting how boundaries between cultural, racial, social, and gender identities are reinforced.
