Members Event – Virtual Event | Inside the Curator’s Office: Selected New Acquisitions

Members are invited to join us for a Zoom presentation about selected works of art recently added to the Museum’s collections. This event will feature short talks from Zoe S. Kwok, Nancy and Peter Lee Associate Curator of Asian Art; Alexandra Letvin, Duane Wilder, Class of 1951, Associate Curator of European Art; and Perrin Lathrop, assistant curator of African art.

The curators will discuss works of art that have recently been added to the Museum’s collections, including:

  • three 19th-century Company School paintings from India that depict important architectural sites
  • a self-portrait by the princess Charlotte Bonaparte (1802–1839) that she painted after a three-year sojourn at her father Joseph’s estate in Bordentown, New Jersey
  • and a 1960 oil on canvas by Bertina Lopes (1924–2012) that marked the artist’s participation in the anti-colonial movement in Mozambique, the country of her birth
