Drawing Nature from the Collections | Pastels: Observing Color in Nature

Thursday, November 2, 2023 @ 8:00 pm

This live art-making class is inspired by a Chinese woodblock print from the Qing Dynasty, Birds, Flowers, and Bamboo from The Mustard Seed Garden. In this session, we will create our own versions of this print using pastels and paper, with a focus on observing colors that appear in nature.

The Museum partners with the Arts Council of Princeton to provide free virtual drawing classes, taught by artist-instructor Barbara DiLorenzo. With an emphasis on drawing with pastel on paper, each week’s lesson in this series will be inspired by an artwork depicting nature in the Museum’s collections.

This series is part of Arts and Health Mercer, a monthlong collaboration between Mercer County arts and cultural organizations that celebrates the vital role art plays in our health and wellbeing. Visit the Arts and Health Mercer website for a full listing of related events.

This event will include live closed captions in both English and Spanish. English captions are available directly in the Zoom toolbar by clicking the “CC” icon. To access Spanish-language captioning, open Streamtext, where you can select “Spanish” to see the live captioning.

Para acceder a los subtítulos en varios idiomas, ingrese al seminario web de Zoom durante un evento en vivo, luego abra un navegador web separado para visitar esta página donde puede seleccionar “español” o el idioma de su elección.
