India Young, collections research specialist in Native American art, discusses Indigenous belongings in the exhibition Nature's Nation in relation to the environments from which they originated—those of colonization—parsing American art historical movements, from the Hudson River School to Arts and Crafts to Modernism, to explore the Indigenous territories, both physical and conceptual, that inform how America pictures itself.
