Constable & Landscape: Richardson Chamber Players

Sunday, May 6, 2012 @ 3:00 pm

The paintings of John Constable have long been recognized as a precursor to Impressionism. His landscapes are so evocative that one critic wrote, "the atmosphere possesses a characteristic humidity about it that almost imparts the wish for an umbrella." Umbrellas may not be necessary at this concert, but the music will evoke the rich world of this master painter.

In celebration of the exhibition John Constable: Oil Sketches from the Victoria and Albert Museum, this event is hosted by Museum Director James Steward and features works by Debussy, Beethoven, Britten, and Schumann. Players will include Geoffrey Burleson, piano; Elizabeth DiFelice, piano; David Kellett, tenor; Anna Lim, violin; Dov Scheindlin, viola; Tom Kraines, cello; and Matthew Sullivan, oboe.
