[1] In 1908 and 1914, the painting was exhibited in Den frie Udstilling (The Free Exhibition), an independent, jury-free exhibition cofounded by Hammershøi as in Bøcher’s collection. See Den frie Udstilling (Copenhagen, 1908), no. 82 (as Studie til Petri Kirke, 1906) and Den frie Udstilling (Copenhagen, 1914), no. 88 (as Petri Kirke. Studie, 1908). It is published in 1918 as in Bøcher’s collection in Sophus Michaëlis and Alfred Bramsen, Vilhelm Hammershøi, Kunstneren og hans Værk (Copenhagen, 1918), no. 302, p. 106 (as Petri Kirke).
