From “Important English Drawings and Watercolors” Christie’s catalogue:
“Provenance: A.H. Bishop, and by descent to his grand-children, the present owners. Unrecorded view from the Schaffhausen series (Wilton 1460-9), perhaps a set of leaves from the Fribourg, Lausanne and Geneva Sketchbook (T.B. CCCXXXII), (Confirmed by Andrew Wilton) Group provisionally assigned to ca. 1841 on basis of dated sheet (Wilton 1460). [Princeton] sheet is closest in composition to Wilton 1461 (Pantzer Collection, Indianapolis; reproduced in ex. cat. “J.M.W. Turner: Works on Paper from American Collections” (1975)”.
