Description
Portrait of the Tang dynasty poet Meng Haoran 孟浩然 (zi: Haoran 浩然; 689-740) standing with his arms in long sleeves together in front of his abdomen. Bearded, he wears outer and inner robes on his body, and a headcloth (putou 幞頭) with a shawl in back on his head. Yang Jun had the pictorial stone from which this rubbing was taken recarved in 1888. It was recut after a 1606 pictorial stone by Sun Wenlong 孫文龍 (act. early 17th century), which was said to follow an image attributed to Wang Wei 王維 (699-761).
