Collection Publications: Reflections of the Passion (y1932-34)

Like Cornelis' Lamentation [y1958-16], this work alludes to the celebration of the Eucharist. Christ's body, turned in full display for the viewer, is a symbol of the Host. He rests on white drapery that resembles ritual cloths used at the altar, represented by Mary's lap. Three Wise Men approach, making gestures similar to those of worshipers about to receive Communion.
