Janna Israel works across the collections to facilitate teaching and interpretation. Previously, at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, she worked on a range of exhibitions and installations, including By Her Hand: Artemisia Gentileschi and Women Artists in Italy, 1500–1800, Afrocosmologies, and Frederic Church: A Painter’s Pilgrimage. She is currently completing her book project, The Nature of Ores: Early Modern Metalwork. Her research has been supported by several organizations, including the American Academy in Rome, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Villa I Tatti, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she received her PhD for a dissertation on Renaissance Venice.
