Hear from guest curator Jordana Moore Saggese on the exhibition and the artist.
Basquiat, the Blue Ribbon Paintings, and the Art of Reproduction platforms Basquiat’s radical engagements with replication and reproductive media to understand the artist in a new and compelling light.
In this talk, exhibition curator Jordana Moore Saggese examines this lesser-known dimension of Basquiat’s practice—one that complicates the popular image of him as a purely spontaneous painter—and explores how the Blue Ribbon paintings illuminate his interest in seriality and the circulation of images.
