Oya Needle Lace Workshop

Join artist Ylvia Asal for an introduction to the ancient Anatolian art of Oya needle lace. 

This workshop invites participants to learn the language of traditional stitching, a practice deeply rooted in Anatolian culture. Artist Ylvia Asal, a recipient of the NJ Cultural Heritage Fellowship, shares her love of Oya needle lace and the essential techniques to create small lace motifs, emphasizing patience, hand rhythm, and mindful making. Makers of all abilities are welcome. The workshop includes a visit to the galleries for inspiration and conversation.
