This intimate drawing depicts Emma Agrasot, the wife of Fortuny’s friend and fellow artist Joaquín Agrasot. The Fortuny and Agrasot families first met in Rome, and during the summer of 1874 they shared the Villa Arata, near Naples. There, Fortuny frequently depicted Emma engaged in such domestic tasks as sewing or embroidery.
