Gustavo Frizzoni (1840–1919)?; Frank Jewett Mather Jr., stamp [Lugt 1853a]; Gift of Frank Jewett Mather, Jr. (probably given to the Art Museum in the 1940s)

It was suggested on a mat note by Konrad Oberhuber that this drawing may have been created by Jusepe de Ribera (1591-1652). Gabriele Finaldi doubted that attribution. It has been suggested that it could be Neapolitan in Laura Giles, Lia Markey, Claire Van Cleave, et. al., Italian Master Drawings from the Princeton University Art Museum, (Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Art Museum, 2014), but it has also been suggested by Laura Giles that it is Florentine (as per a note in the same Italian catalogue, p. 273).
