Red apple,

ca. 2015

Young Sook Park 朴英淑 / 박영숙, born 1947, Gyeongju, South Korea
2022-131
Over four decades, Park Young Sook has become one of the foremost ceramic artists in South Korea. Her treatment of materials is research-driven and precise. She uses unique mixes of clay sourced from various parts of the country, fermenting many of the mixtures over several years. For glazing, she prioritizes traditional, natural pigments to create classical colorings, such as the light-green celadon of the pair of apples and the rich copper-red glaze of the red apple.
