Description
Oyster white porcelain biscuit. Celadon glaze over all but resting surface of base-ring. Overglaze painted decoration. Famille rose. Thick-walled, shallow dish; wide floor, sloping walls, plain rim, low base-ring. VegetabIe scroll in low relief, under the celadon glaze, on interior. Painted decoration also interior. Gold band on rim. On floor, octagonal medallion with concave sides framing figured scene. At right, before a building, woman seated, flanked by two standing female attendants. Before the group, at left, two servants holding a vessel on a tray. Landscape background. The octagonal border contains a scroll of pink peonies, green leaves on gold ground. The area between octagonal and rim carpeted wth flowers, fruits, birds, insects, and symbols of three of the four accomplishments (music missing).
