Burning Bridge,

1963

Leonardo Nierman, Mexican, born 1932
y1991-79
Trained as a mathematician and physicist, Nierman paints to explore relationships between colors and forms inspired by natural phenomena. The image of a bridge seen here exemplifies his goal: this painting might appear abstract until a viewer reads the title. In 1966, Nierman was invited to Princeton to paint a mural for the Department of Physics; it can be seen in the faculty lounge in Jadwin Hall.
