Family group,
1500–1850
More Context
It is extremely rare to see three people grouped in a single carving, much less such an obvious family group. Despite the Okvik-like rectangular torsos, these small pieces, made to stand alone, are probably Thule. Evan M. Maurer, in The Native American Heritage exhibition catalogue, identifies the piece as coming from St. Lawrence Island.
