Inscriptions: Puru: “Puru painted the bamboo” 溥儒補竹 Pujin, zi Xuezhai 雪齋: “Xuezhai Pujin painted the pine tree” 雪齋溥伒畫松 Puquan, zi Songchuang 松窗: “Songchuang Puquan painted the plum and rock” 松窗佺補梅石 Outer titleslip: San Pu hexie song zhu mei 三溥合寫松竹梅 第拾杀號 "Gongbo xiansheng [ci]cun; Chen Bin[he] jingzeng" 公博先生[賜]存陳彬[龢]敬贈 卅三年四月, dated fourth month of 1944 Note: probably Chen Binhe 陳彬龢 (1897-1945), a literary figure and writer on art history. A former editor-in-chief of the Shanghai News (Shen bao 申報), the Japanese appointed Chen, who had gained their trust, as the new president of the newspaper.
