Simbiosis (Symbiosis),
1996
Gunther Gerzso, Mexican, 1915–2000
2001-72
Gerszo’s architectonic abstract paintings reflect myriad sources, including the bold sculptural style of the modernist architect Le Corbusier, which Gerzso absorbed during his formative years in Switzerland. He integrated bright colors and motifs reminiscent of those found in the art of the ancient Americas with Surrealist compositional elements, such as the geometric planes seen here that take on the appearance of an uncanny landscape.
