Engravings by Albrecht Dürer and other artists from northern Europe served as inspirations for Muntanya; the vertical composition he employed in this drawing is reminiscent of a woodcut by Dürer of the same subject. In Muntanya’s version, however, details of landscape and setting have been eliminated in favor of a focus on the figures.
