Inscription
慈明禪師自賛
吾真非真,良工[悞a]邈。
水月寒潭,可雕可琢。
隨機兮忽,長忽短應。
器兮有清,有濁僧瑤。
僧瑤頭角,頭角日出。
兮西山月,沒兮東嶽。
石霜慈明祖師真相
得之湘源好事君子予
命工摹刊於石庶傳
無窮耳淳熙己酉[1189]季夏
住湘山六世孫守詵謹記
“. . . Reverently recorded in the last month of summer in the jiyou cyclical year of the Chunxi reign by [monk] Shoushen, the sixth-generation descendant [of Shixiang Chuyuan] residing at Xiangshan.”
a Written as 懊 in the record of this inscription in Xie Qikun 謝啓昆 (1737-1802), Yuexi jinshi lüe 粵西金石略 (Tonggu ting 銅鼓亭, 1801), juan 9, p. 20a, which also notes that the pictorial stone was carved at Xiangshan Si 湘山寺 temple, Guilin 桂林 city, Quanzhou 全州 county, Guangxi province.
