Possibly David Hunter McAlpin III [1]; possibly by descent to David Hunter McAlpin, Jr., Class of 1950 (1928-2022); 2021 gift to Princeton University Art Museum.

[1] David Hunter McAlpin III, 1897 - 1989 (Class of 1920) was a financier with a special interest in photography. Documents in the Museum’s internal files demonstrated that he also developed a collection of East Asian ceramics and bronzes after spending time in Tokyo and Taipei in the 1960’s.
