Round, 5.15 cm. diam. Large gold Mao head floats, offset towards top, on plain vermillion ground. A “wreath” of 9 sunflowers and leaves rests along lower border of circle, extending past circumference of badge. Above sunflowers & below Mao’s head – horizontal row of 5 books with covers facing front, standing on top of an open book (of Mao’s collected writings): “毛泽东选集 (第五) [5 = in middle]. Back: oval indentation. Inscription in running script at top of indentation: “毛主席万岁.” Below indentation = 3 lines: “革命委员会好” / “一机部” / “1969 年”.
