One of the most technically accomplished etchers working in the first half of the twentieth century, John Taylor Arms is best known for exquisitely detailed etchings of medieval churches. Originally a history student at Princeton University, Arms transferred to MIT to study architecture. He graduated in 1912, when the American taste for the Gothic Revival style was at its height, and went on to enjoy a successful career as a printmaker and educator.
