Two red curtains blowing,

1980

Lois Dodd, born 1927, Montclair, NJ; active Cushing, ME, Blairstown, NJ, and New York, NY
2019-180
Over the course of a seven-decade-long career, Dodd has developed a practice of observational painting, much of it done outdoors. This grounding in nature allows her works to achieve a delicate balance between landscape and abstract compositions, as in these four watercolor sketches of laundry drying in the breeze that present evocative studies of each day’s atmosphere and a variation of formal elements.
