Description
White vase with a lobed body and long neck rising to a flared rim. Two pairs of incised bands ring the neck and can be seen under the clear qingbai glaze. The base angles down and is covered by ribs. Qingbai ware 青白is characterized by the blue-green tint of the transparent glaze over a white clay. It was produced during the Song and Yuan dynasties and was later also referred to as yingqing 影青 (“shadow blue”) ware. It was chiefly made in Jiangxi province in south-eastern China at several locations, including the kilns at Jingdezhen.
