in ink, on verso of mount: This picture was painted in the spring of 1947 at 109 E 3rd St., N.Y.C. following a trip to Montauk. On the trip were Reuben Tam | Dorothy Andrews, Hyde Solomon & myself. We stayed at a road | house called The Blue Marlin & had rooms on the second | floor, over the bar & restaurant. The juke box played "Heartache" | all night long below us.
