Archangel Michael
The Villarroya Master, Spanish, Aragonese, active late 15th century
y1936-3
In this panel, the Archangel Michael weighs the souls of two of the blessed, who kneel on the pans of a scale, attended by angels. He also fights the forces of Satan, plunging his spear into a devil that tries to claim the white-robed souls. While other saved souls look on from their ranks behind the Archangel, damned souls are guarded by devils and herded into the maw of Hell.
