More Context

In most representations of humankind’s place in the universe, the earth lies below as terra firma and the moon hangs high above, seemingly unreachable. With the Apollo spaceflights to the moon, this relationship changed. Inspired by photographs of earthrise taken from the moon, in Full Moon Liu recognizes that the limits of our universe have now escaped the confines of earth, uneasily questioning our isolation in the unbound vastness of space.
