Text: 天人合一 (tian ren he yi)
"All the people under heaven are united"
or
"The will of heaven and the affairs (tian yi ren shi 天意人事) of man are united"
A philosophical view about relations between man and nature proposed by Zi Si and Mencius in the Warring States Period; the view insist that the heaven has its will, and human will is the embodiment of that of heaven, so that the will of heaven is the governor of the human will, and human will can also move the will of heaven so that the will of heaven and human are united.
Note: In the first three characters each stroke is a single brush movement, but in the last character "unity" (yi), which is also the most dynamic, several movements come together to form the single stroke. This may be a symbolic play on the notion of unity, as the character seems to explode outwards in flung ink dots and splashes.
