Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Athens,
1858
Dimitrios Constantin, Greek, active 1859–1870s
2010-24
Dimitris Konstaninou’s work portrays topographical views of historic sites and archaeological excavations in the environs of Athens and further afi eld. Here Konstantinou’s photograph renders the jumbled strata of history: from the newly laid road in the foreground to the Roman-era theater, then up the medieval stonework on the Acropolis to the Parthenon, which overlooks all at top right.
