魏正光時僧法定住靈巖達磨殿後有鐵物自地湧出六尺許如袈裟披摺之狀有分書鐵袈裟三字疑金元人筆後移至崖下建亭焉或云鑄鐘不成
In the Zhengguang era (520–524), monk Fading of the Wei Dynasty was residing in the Lingyan Si Temple. [At that time] behind the Damodian Hall a metal object emerged from the earth and surged up to six chi above ground. [Its surface] resembles the folds of a monk's robe (jiasha). Written in [ba]fen clerical script [on this object] are the three characters "tie jia sha" ("iron monk's robe") suspected to have been inscribed by people of the Jin or Yuan period. It was later moved to the foot of the cliff and a pavilian was built there [to shelter it]. Some say that [this curious object was left over from] an unsuccessful casting of a bell.
