The Record
The Record of the Princeton University Art Museum is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that publishes research based on the Museum's collections.
Call for Papers
We welcome submissions that offer new analysis of and interdisciplinary context for individual objects in the collections or groups thereof, from any theoretical orientation. Most published work will be between 5,000 and 10,000 words, though scholarly work of any length will be considered for publication. All essays are generously illustrated, with the Museum responsible for the payment of associated fees.
The Record publishes work by scholars at every career stage and especially seeks submissions written in a clear style, accessible to a broad readership. Manuscripts must not have been previously published, in print or online, and should be prepared using the Chicago Manual of Style (18th edition; chicagomanualofstyle.org) and Merriam-Webster’s dictionary (m-w.com). Because the peer review process is anonymous, please submit Word documents that do not identify the author in any way, including in the endnotes. Please submit manuscripts and direct inquiries to artmuseumrecord@princeton.edu. Authors whose essays are selected for publication will receive an honorarium, paid upon approval of the final edited manuscript.
