Directions & Parking

The Museum is located at the heart of Princeton University’s historic and walkable campus. While Princeton and the University campus are accessible via public transportation, bike, and personal vehicle, please be aware there is no public drop-off or parking at the Museum. We encourage you to plan your route ahead of time to make the most of your visit.

Please note that online mapping services such as Google Maps and Apple Maps will erroneously provide driving directions to the Museum via Elm Drive. Elm Drive is NOT open for general vehicular traffic. We recommend instead entering one of the nearby parking garages as your Google/Apple Maps destination point or Laura Wooten Hall, which is a short and scenic walk to the Museum.

For visitors with mobility needs, please contact the Museum at least three business days in advance of your visit to request special access to the Museum via Elm Drive. Call 609-258-3788 and select option 1 to speak to a visitor services staff member, or email Louise Barrett at lkiefer@princeton.edu.

Parking

Princeton University is pedestrian friendly, with limited vehicle access to main campus. Visitors have a variety of parking options on campus and in town. Select the option that best suits your needs and itinerary.

Parking in Town

Visitors are welcome to make use of the various parking garages and metered spaces in Princeton.

Helpful Tip: Parking in town is a great option when pairing your Museum visit with dining or shopping.

Visitors may park for free at municipal metered parking spaces when a current ADA placard is displayed.

Parking on Campus

Monday–Friday

Museum visitors can park for free at Stadium Drive Garage by registering for a daily permit online. The Museum is one mile (or an approximately twenty-minute walk) from the garage. Alternatively, visitors are welcome to take TigerTransit from the garage (see Getting Around Campus below).

Evenings and weekends

Visitors can park in any numbered and non-restricted parking lot after 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends. Theatre Drive Garage is the closest campus garage—only a half mile (or an approximately ten-minute walk) to the Museum.

For more information on lot locations, please refer to the University’s Visitor Parking.

Accessible drop-off and parking

ADA drop-off and parking at the Museum requires approval to drive onto campus. Please contact the Art Museum at least 3 business days in advance to request campus access. Call 609-258-3788 and select option 1 to speak to a visitor services staff member, or email Louise Barrett at lkiefer@princeton.edu.

Please book in advance by submitting a TigerAccess Request.
