Said to have been removed from the Great Mosque of St. John (Jami' al-Umawi al-Kabir) in Damascus following a fire in 1895; acquired by H. C. Havens, Class of 1892, at an unknown date from an unknown source; given to the Museum in 1929 by Havens.
