Description
On the top is the Heart Sutra of the Perfection of Wisdom (Panruo boluomiduo xin jing般若波羅蜜多心經) in the calligraphy of the poetess Yingchuan 瑩川 (courtesy name Ruting 如亭) of the Manchu Ningguta 寧古塔 clan. The calligraphy is arranged in a grid forming a rectangular block. Mounted under the sutra is the figure of hooded Guanyin seated in a cave. These two rubbings may have been taken from a Heart Sutra and Guanyin Stele recorded in a Qing edition of the Jiaoshan zhi 焦山志 gazetteer.
