Description
Large baluster jars with designs of two pheasants standing on rockery among tree peony and other flowers on the body, a ruyi collar and flower sprays on the neck above, and a band of petal lappets below, in underglaze blue and overglaze red and gold enamels; unglazed bottoms. Lids decorated with flower sprays and rockery, and surmounted by gilt-bronze finials cast as oak leaves and acorns. Roccoco-style mounts: bottom mount has four feet and four short projections to cradle jar; upper mount has two short and two long projections over the shoulders of the jar and extend up to hold the cover. Base and upper mounts made of several pieces that are joined by screws.
