William Warren Bradley is a former US Senator from New Jersey (1979–97), presidential contender (2000), and star basketball player for the New York Knicks (1967–77). He is Princeton’s all-time leading scorer in basketball and won an Olympic gold medal in 1964 as the youngest member of the American delegation. While senator he championed numerous causes relating to tax reform, the environment, energy, foreign policy, and health care. The author of six best-selling books on politics, sports, and memoir, Bradley later served on the University’s Board of Trustees, and is a recipient of Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson Award, conferred on a graduate whose achievements exemplify Wilson’s memorable phrase “Princeton in the nation’s service.”
