Signed: "Inscribed by Zhang Xiang 張祥 for the Wenkui 文魁 [provincial degree holder] Mr. Luo 羅先生"
1. Zhang Xiang has yet to be identified, but the use of "Mr." (先生) indicates a late Qing date.
2. "Wenkui" 文魁:乡试(清代乡试考场设于各省称贡院）于八月举行，亦曰秋闱。九月放榜（因时值秋季，桂花盛开，所以也称桂花榜），新科举人第一名称解元，第二名称亚元，第三、四、五名称经魁，第六名称亚魁，其余称文魁，均由国家颁给20两牌坊银和顶戴衣帽匾额。匾额悬挂住宅大门之上，门前可以树立牌坊。
