Here, a 1969 Time magazine article on the tragic 1968 My Lai Massacre in Vietnam—featuring photographs of a medic tending to a wounded GI and US troops praying on Thanksgiving eve—contrasts with sports articles and pictures of athletes. On the left, Rauschenberg has repeated a diagram of the American Sign Language handshape for the letter “F.”
