Study Room Guidelines

The study rooms offer students, faculty, and other visitors a unique opportunity to examine and discuss original works of art without barriers. These guidelines are intended to ensure a positive experience for visitors and the safety of the artwork. We hope that you enjoy your visit! 

Permitted Items: 

  • Pencils
  • Notebooks
  • Laptops, tablets, and cell phones

Prohibited Items: 

  • Pens
  • Bags/backpacks, coats, and umbrellas,
  • Water bottles and liquids of any kind
  • Food, gum, cough drops, and hard candy 

In the Study Rooms: 

  • Avoid placing pencils, notebooks, laptops, tablets, or cell phones near any artwork.
  • Do not touch the artwork. Only trained Museum staff are permitted to handle the art.
  • Do not lean or sit on the tables or counter ledges in the study rooms. Visitors are welcome to move chairs close to the artwork.
  • Secure clothing, jewelry, hair, strings, and scarves to avoid contact with works of art.
  • Avoid putting feet on the chairs.
  • Please be mindful of proximity to the artwork.
  • Please turn away from the artwork should you need to sneeze or cough.
  • Visitors are permitted to photograph works of art but without a flash. Do not hold the photographic device directly over the artwork.
