The Princeton University Art Museum is committed to providing an accessible environment for teaching, learning, and research in a participatory, immersive, and dynamic atmosphere.

Visit Requests

Reservations for academic class and research visits in the Museum galleries will open in Fall 2025. All requests must be submitted in advance. 

During Fall 2025, Princeton University faculty and students may schedule course visits and appointments to view a selection of available works on paper and photographs from the Museum’s collections in the Firestone Library (A-1-C) classroom.

In addition, courses may continue to visit Art@Bainbridge at 158 Nassau Street.

Museum Study Rooms Coming in Spring 2026!

Study room reservations and object requests (15 objects max.) should be submitted at least eight weeks in advance to process. 

Princeton University course appointments are available Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-10:20 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:20 p.m. 

Other research, teaching, and study visits are available Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. and 1–4 p.m.

Teaching Assistance

Instructors may request teaching assistance from a member of the Museum’s curatorial or academic teaching staff. Self-guided/teacher-led visits are welcome. 

Faculty interested in teaching with the Museum collections may request a consultation or teaching assistance from our academic educators, the Mellon Curator of Academic Engagement, Janna Israel, and the Curator of Teaching and Learning, Veronica White.

Teaching & Study Room Descriptions

Object Study Rooms (five)

  • Researchers and academic courses may examine works of art from storage in the object study rooms.
  • Appointments are subject to availability; room request visits fill quickly.
  • Three study rooms accommodate up to 16 people.
  • Two study rooms accommodate up to 20 people.
  • Each room has audio/visual capabilities, including wall-mounted monitors.
  • Each room is outfitted with a system of wooden wall slats and table easels to streamline the secure display of artwork during visits. In addition, there are built-in cabinets with a display surface that runs the full length of the east walls.

Conservation Study Room (one)

  • Researchers and academic courses may reserve this room for conservation assessments or technical analysis.
  • The conservation study room has a maximum capacity of 16 people.
  • This room has audio/visual capabilities, including a wall-mounted monitor.
  • The room is outfitted with a system of wooden wall slats and table easels to streamline the secure display of artwork during visits. In addition, there are built-in cabinets with a display surface that runs the full length of the east wall.

  • Maker spaces in the Museum, open to all visitors and classes.
  • Classes at all levels may reserve these spaces to participate in hands-on activities with wet or dry materials.
  • Each lab can accommodate up to 24 people.
  • Each lab has supplies for art making. Please specify interests and requests on the reservation form.
  • The Creativity Labs cannot accommodate works of art from the Museum’s collections. 

Collections Galleries

Course instructors and researchers are required to schedule visits to the Museum’s galleries to avoid conflicting visits to the same space.
